PT MUGUXEROX MOUNTAINEERING & BACKPACKING CLUB
SUNDAY, 5 MARCH 1989
BRIEF: Moderate day hike in Pt Mugu state park. 8 miles round trip 1500 feet elevation gain. Overall time six hours including lunch break. A climb to Mugu peak will be the climax of the hike. We’ll have lunch on the peak. The peak offers a spectacular view of the ocean, the Channel Islands, and La Jolla Valley.
TRAILHEAD: La Jolla Cyn parking lot at PCH. From the south bay take Pacific Coast Hwy west (or north) and continue past Malibu for 22 miles. You will pass Malibu Civic Center and Pepperdine University. Watch for the signs. The La La Jolla Canyon trailhead is 2 miles after Sycamore Canyon. When going west on PCH you make a right turn to the parking lot; i.e, away from the ocean.
WHEN: 10:00 AM on Sunday morning 05 March 1989. So now you can’t blame me folks that you have to get up too early Sunday because of me.
Maps: Point Mugu Topo, Point Mugu State Park.

WARNING: Beware of poison oak - ask for assistance in identification if not sure. Also, check occasionally for ticks after walking through grassy areas, especially if wearing shorts. Toilettes are available only at the trailhead.
