XMBC 10th Anniversary Hike!

Come with us as we celebrate XMBC’s 10th anniversary with a day hike to the place where it all started--Windy Gap.

On December 3, 1977 the XMBC did its first day hike here. On Saturday, October 24, 1987, the club will do it again.

Jack Cook, one of the original participants, will be the leader for this trip. To each participant Jack will be giving away a copy of the "famous" trip packet put together by that long-ago leader, Don Anderson. For details or a reservation, call Jack at (213)333-5214 work or (213)371-2706 home.

Directions to trailhead: From the South Bay take 91 or 10 east to 605, then north to 210, east to exit at Azusa Ave. Follow Azusa north all the way into the mountains where it becomes highway 39. Take the Crystal Lake turnoff and go to the far northern part of the campground. The hike will leave from here. Driving time about 75 minutes from the South Bay.

Bring: Water (2 qts.), sturdy shoes, lunch, 10 essentials. Be ready for both warm and cool temperatures--it could be either.

The hike is rated moderate by Robinson (# 76).
