When: Saturday, October 20 through Sunday, October 21. Arrive at the campground anytime after 8:00 AM. Check out time is 2:00 PM Sunday.

Brief: A car-camp on the beach with optional easy day hike(s); elevation gain 80 ft; 4 miles round trip.

What: This will be the club's first overnight outing at a coastal location. It will be a relaxing weekend with easy hikes along the coast, or you can spend your weekend sunbathing on the beach. There is a possibility of a trip to Gaviota Hot Springs (actually warm springs) which would involve a 12 mile drive and a half mile hike.

We have four camp sites reserved which can accommodate up to 32 people and 12 vehicles (there is a charge of $6.00 per vehicle after 4 vehicles). There are fire rings in the camp sites. If you have firewood and can bring some, please do. (Wood is available in the campground at $5.00 per small bundle.) There is running water in the campground, flush toilets, and showers. There is also a camp store, but their stock is limited - basically snacks and cold beverages. Dogs are welcome, but park regulations require that they be kept on a leash during the day and in a tent or vehicle at night. Also, "proof of rabies inoculation or valid license is required."

Weather: The weather is usually very mild this time of year, expect highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.

Car Pooling: Because of the cost for additional vehicles, carpooling is recommended. I will try to coordinate car pool arrangements.

Directions: Follow US 101 northbound through Santa Barbara. Approximately 15 miles past Santa Barbara exit at Refugio Road. Turn left just off the freeway and then turn right into the State Beach. Or just follow the signs for Refugio State Beach.
