PT MUGU STATE PARK - HIKE ACROSS THE PARK

SATURDAY OCTOBER 28

OVERVIEW: We’ll cross Pt MUGU State park from Newbury Park to PCH and return to Newbury Park by car. We’ll arrange a car shuttle. This is a moderate hike 9 miles one way which will be the total . The hike will last around four hours. We’ll break for lunch. At the end we’ll have a meal at a location to be decided by popular vote.

WHEN: Saturday 10/28/89 12:00 AM at the trailhead Portero Rd Newbury Park.

TRAILHEAD: From the South Bay drive north on 405 Frwy to 101 Frwy. Go 101 west to Newbury Park. (Past Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks). Exit on Borchard. Make a left turn. Pass Wendy Dr and make a left on the first road past Wendy. Look for Portero Rd.

Park outside the park just in case they close the park at sunset.

DESCRIPTION: We’ll leave from Portero Rd at 12:00 AM. The days are short, and with the clock moved back it will get dark around 5:00PM. The entire hike will be on a wide dirt road. We’ll pass Danielson Ranch. We’ll enjoy an abundence of Seycamore trees. We’ll arrive at Seycamore Cyn trailhead around 4:30 PM. The leaders and Jack Cook will come at 11:00 to take care of the shuttle arrangement.

BRING: Lunch. Two quarts of water. Hat. Sunscreen Sunglasses. Tennis shoes or hiking boots. Flashlight. Good spirit.
